Sheffield Pride 2010 - Line-up announced |

The Sheffield Pride Committee have confirmed the line-up for the main stage, along with other details for the event taking place on Saturday the 26th June 2010, from 1.00pm-7.00pm in Endcliffe Park.
"The year 2010 marks 40 years since the first ever gay pride marches took place in USA to celebrate the anniversary of the Stone Wall riots in June 1969.With this in mind, Sheffield Pride 2010 will be dedicated to ‘Pride over the ages’. The fabulous main stage will contain music and acts from across the last 40 years along with speeches and testimonials from individuals who have lived through the last 4 decades, celebrating the rights and freedoms we experience today due to the dedication and sacrifices that were made in the past." Queer Tango - New Social Group |

Queer Tango is a new group that welcomes everyone and is a space to get together, enjoy tango music and to socialize, to exchange and learn new ways of communication through movement and dance. The group embraces diversity and sexual orientation is not an assumption, nor would gender restrict anyone to a specific role. The teacher, Cecilia, has travelled from Argentina, and her teaching focuses on the communication between the dances, and the pleasure of dancing and improvisation. If you would be interested in joining the group the next meeting is on Saturday the 22nd May from 4.00-6.00pm at Walkley Community Centre and then every alternate saturday. Fees are £10 and £8 concessions and beginners are always welcome. Sing with Pride - 29th May 2010 |

Sheffield Pride has confirmed details for a pre-pride event taking place in Sheffield City Centre on Saturday 29th May 2010, from 11am to 4pm.
Street karaoke will encourage the people of Sheffield to ‘Sing with Pride’ and will showcase the karaoke hits of the last 40 years. Visitors will receive a free goodie bag courtesy of Sheffield Pride 2010. The aim is to give the citizens of Sheffield a taste of Pride in the hope they will visit on the big day itself. ‘Karaoke is a fun and enjoyable way of highlighting Sheffield Pride and is important for letting everybody in Sheffield know about the event. Do you want more confidence in your live, including your sex life? This one day course for gay and bisexual men offers the opportunity to learn practical skills to help build your confidence. It will help you talk to men you like, say 'yes' to the sex you want and 'no' to the sex you don't and be in control of condom use to ensure sex is as safe as you want it to be.
The 'Building Your Confidence' course will be taking place in cities across England, and will be taking place in Sheffield on Saturday the 19th June 2010. The course will start at 10am and finish at 5.00pm. All places on the course are free of charge. Men Only Testing - Get the full M.O.T. |

Sheffield Contraception and Sexual Health Service is launching M.O.T. – Men Only Testing, a new sexual health drop in clinic for men who have sex with men on Wednesday 12 May. Based within the Central Health Clinic on Mulberry Street in the city centre, behind TJ Hughes, the new drop in clinic will provide a safe and confidential space where men can be tested for sexually transmitted infections and get Hepatitis B vaccinations. Trained nurses and health promotion staff will be available to offer men advice and information around their sexual health. The clinic will also offer free condoms and lube to all clients. The clinic opens every Wednesday between 4pm and 6.30pm and can be accessed by men of all ages and backgrounds.
